Director of the Technology & Media Group
Laurence Hoess is the Director of The Flyfisher Technology & Media Group. He and his team work closely with small businesses to provide integrated software, technology, and media solutions to make businesses efficient and effective. As Director, Mr. Hoess manages the group’s service strategy, contractor management, and project management.
Mr. Hoess currently fills a number of operations and leadership roles within The Flyfisher Capital Group’s portfolio companies, including General Manager of DagonIT Systems, LTD., a portfolio/platform company in Fund IV; and Technology Lead for CXOSoft, LLC, a vertical owned by DagonIT; and he serves on the investigating committee of The Flyfisher Capital Group’s Technology Mergers and Acquisitions unit.
During his nearly 15 years of software development experience, Mr. Hoess has developed a variety of traditional and SaaS web applications using databases and web services, has managed teams of developers as well as projects, is familiar with usability practices, and has mentored junior developers.
He has worked in the several industries from tape based backup systems to telephone to banking systems. As a Senior Software Engineer at National Renewable Energy Laboratory in their Golden, CO facility, he was an integral part of the team that was awarded Best Application Design – Workflow Applications from the Nielsen Norman Group.
The company’s he has worked for range from 305 Spin, Inc., a full service Internet technology company; to Century Link Communications (formerly Qwest/US West); to Acxiom Corp., an enterprise data, analytics and software as a service company. He also has experience with government agencies like the U.S. Department of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management.
He holds a BA degree from University of New Mexico, in English with a concentration in Professional Technical Writing and a minor in Conservation. He reinvests in the community through his work with Trout Unlimited, Environment Colorado, and Swallow Hill Music.
